Barb
Born in the Midwest, somewhere very, very cold, I moved to Southern California in 2002 and discovered that when you live in sun and warmth all year long, you are very, very happy. A former Corporate Skirt (after 13 sometimes exciting, sometimes fun, sometimes boring years, I was suddenly so over it), I now spend my days proactively unemployed, happily doing my own thing, committed to creativity, and lovin’ every minute of it. I’m a volunteer (anything to do with animals and/or conservation work makes me happy) and I’m a writer (there, I said it out loud). When it comes to music, I can take it or leave it but the idea of being bookless freaks me out. My husband, for whom I enjoy making delicious meals and with whom I love to travel, is almost the center of my universe (me being the center, of course). Oh yeah, and I have a cat (what child-free woman doesn’t?). She’s a rescue. And deaf. All white. All fuzzy soft. All loving. Just like me. (I’ll let you figure out for yourself if I’m referring to all or some of that.)

Me and my BoyzIn my 35 years on this planet, I’ve lived in six of the United States…born in Seattle, a brief stint in Southern California, and my “formative years” in St. Louis, MO. Then it was Indiana, back to Missouri, and Ohio before finally waking up and moving out West. I’ve been in SoCal for eight years now, and although I don’t think I’ll live here my whole life, at this point I can’t imagine leaving.
I’ve been flirting on and off with my creative self, and this blog is another attempt to exercise the muscle of the writer in me. And how could I argue when Barb brought it up, since I get to talk about myself and my favorite little guy on the planet - my son Matteo!
Other than my new full time job as mommy, I work in the corporate world (unfortunately) and hope to some day be my own boss working from home. Music is my therapy, and I have a hard time going a day without a Diet Coke. My other vices shall remain nameless. My husband is Italian raised in Brazil, speaks five languages, and is the smartest man I have ever met (not that there was much competition where I come from). He also drives me crazy, in both good ways and bad.
Other than that, I’m pretty much your average midwestern girl gone bad, and loving every minute of it!
About Us
Lori and Barb met through a mutual friend a few years ago. Matteo joined in on the fun late in 2007. And the rest is history (or will become history)(or will change history).
